Sunday 29 September 2019
– 7.15pm for 7.45pm prompt start
Dear Members, Associate Members, Honorary Members and Patrons
On behalf of the Management Committee of Kelvin Players Theatre Company, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to our 2019 Annual General Meeting (AGM). This will be held at the Kelvin Players Studios on the evening of Sunday 29 September 2019. You are invited to arrive from 7:15pm. The business of the meeting will start at 7.45pm prompt.
The AGM is an opportunity for you to meet and discuss, and to influence the style, direction and form of your Club. Please attend if you can and use the meeting to show support for the work carried out in the day-to-day running of the Club.
A key area to cover will be election of Committee Members and appointment of Club officers. The Management Committee consists of nine elected members and there are more than 30 other non-committee roles in all, with many rewarding opportunities to participate in the working life of your Club. Please see Club Roles list for details. The Club doesn’t run by itself and it is only through the time and generosity of spirit volunteered by Club members that the infrastructure for our many productions, events and activities is laid. Do please take time to consider if there is a part you can play in the administrative life of Kelvin.
You are also invited to submit your nominations for the annual Kelvin Players awards. There are eight awards to be presented, of which five are selected by the membership:
The Milton Johns Award for Best Male Acting Performance (for a lead or major acting performance);
The Higson Award for Best Female Acting Performance (for a lead or major acting performance);
The Kelvin Award for Best Director;
The Vice-Presidents’ Cup for Best Supporting Acting Performance;
The Harrison Award for Technical Achievement (for a production’s achievement in Kelvin one of the following areas – Set Design; Set Dressing; Lighting; Sound; Special Effects or Costume.
The awards are a chance for the Club to express particular commendation for a member’s contribution in the previous season, and your input is essential to make them a much-valued honour. Please return the nomination form (above) by post or email to me, Jonny Wilkinson by 30th August at latest.
Remember that only Members paid-up for 2019-20 are eligible to vote at the AGM or make award nominations. A link to the Membership Subscription & Information form is above. Subs may now be paid by BACS payment, as well as by cheque. Please contact the Membership Secretary on firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
N.B. Honorary members who have received life memberships do not need to complete the subscription form, although we would appreciate you completing the Information form.
Incidentally, the Membership Information form is an excellent way to let the Club know of any interests, special skills or talents, or theatre experience in any area you may have (N.B. not just for new joiners)! From ballroom-dancing to book-keeping, from face-painting to flower-arranging, Kelvin Players is a house of many talents – so take the time to fill in the information form with as much detail as you think relevant. Also let us know if any of your contact details change.
Remember too that Friends’ memberships are also available – if you’re thinking of stepping back from active membership but still want to retain a connection with your friends and your Club, consider Friends’ membership, which is available singly or jointly. Friends (alongside our Honorary and Associate members) are a much-valued and welcomed part of the Kelvin family. Please contact Friends’ Coordinator, Frances Cox (email@example.com) if you would like to find out more regarding Friends’ membership.
